MEX AM NW 2018

about the project

MEX AM Northwest is a yearly, multi-event, multi-venue festival aimed at showcasing contemporary Mexican and Mexican- American culture.

It is produced and curated by the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle with the support of partners, both local and international, as well as community members who, in a joint effort come together to celebrate Mexico and its relationship with the United States.

Proposed Main Poster

This poster is the representation of the original concept that was approved and presented. It was later adapted to include the final sponsors.

Social Media Layouts

I was responsible for proposing several social media layouts for Facebook. These layouts would serve as templates for different types of content, such as biographies, announcements, event descriptions and the like.

This calendar was planned for its web release and adapted for print as well.

Each event had its own poster, Facebook layout and cover picture.

Concept

Our team was tasked with refreshing past year’s graphic identity using the same official elements. This time we would keep the triangle pattern as main decorative elements, the Mexican tourism color palette and Seattle’s Space Needle as main illustration.

In the end, we adapted our concept to represent “covering the city with color”, which meant that the festival would provide a new perspective of Mexico and showcase Mexican joy and energy.

We also used a very simple dotted pattern to provide some variety to our pattern without using folkloric symbols.
